10/01/24 Summary and Reflection

There are some shortcomings in this creation

  1. Failure to manage time well, spending too much time on art design and rendering testing, resulting in poor post-production.
  2. There is too little animation in the short film.
  3. A scene that I really like is not finished yet, I will continue to work on it until it is finished
  4. The lack of some shots made my story line unclear.
  5. Shortcomings in editing and music

This assignment is my first time using UE to create 3D rendering 2D effects, and I have achieved some success. I look forward to doing better in my future projects.

08/01/24 Import UE and Rendering

I imported the animated skeleton mesh, the static mesh and texture into UE for lighting and post process volume tweaking, I created footage of my animation and camera.

05/01/24 Animation

I animated the walk cycle, and the hair flow.

01/01/24 Scene and Layout

I built some scenes and props. And I painted textures for them in Substance Painter.

Then I create simple layouts for all of my shots.

23/12/23 Character Rigging

I used the adv plug-in to rig and draw the skin on the model, and I addes some controllers in her hair. Then I can achieve the effect of the hair flowing in the wind.

20/12/23 Character Material

I draw the texture for the girl in Substance Painter.

14/12/23 Character Modeling

I built a girl model in Zbrush, and I I topologized the model in Maya.

07/12/23 Use PostProcessVolum to Achieve Stylized Rendering in UE

I found a tutorial for 3D rendering 2D. If we want 2d rendering, we can change the PostProcessVolum setting, and creat a post process material for it.

Then, I did a rendering test.

24/11/23 A Simple Sence Layout in Maya

I built a simple scene layout to think about how my scene could look like a painting.

15/11/23 Concept Art Dsign

At the beginning of the creation, I thought of the scene where my grandma coaxed me to sleep. So I wanted to depict a scene of a little girl entering a dream world and made some concept drawings and character design for it.

I set up three stages for my story, waking up, going to sleep, and falling asleep.
